Episode 15 – The Maritime Wonders of The Western Coast And The Parish Priest Who Wouldn’t Sell A Boating Picture

LOUGH CORRIB – HOLDING EUROPE’S OLDEST AND LONGEST RECORD

This edition discusses the maritime history of Lough Corrib, its shipping story and the oldest and longest sailing race in Europe from Cong to Galway. Its history is entwined with the maritime history of the West of Ireland. In Ga;way City the iconic Galway Hookers are being preserved. The programme hears the personal and first experience of a search-and-rescue pilot and a sailor tells how he tried to get his Parish Priest to sell a picture of Ireland’s tall ship. These are all storylines on the  new edition of the maritime programme – the MARITIME IRELAND RADIO SHOW.
