Episode 11 – Seafarers’ Health, Brixham ‘Smacks in Ringsend’ and Making Anglers Scientists

On the November edition, No.11 – The Nautical Institute outlines why more attention must be paid to the health and ‘wellness’ of seafarers. Capt .Steve Malone, Secretary of the Institute in Ireland, discusses the challenges facing seafarers on whom, he says,  the world’s trade depends. Maritime author and historian Comac Lowth outlines how Brixham trawlers came to ‘Irishtown’ – that great Dublin maritime centre, Ringsend.  William Roche, Senior Research Officer at Fisheries Ireland  asks anglers to become citizen research scientists…and Niamh Stephenson of the RNLI explains why lifeboat crews are reluctant to become known as ‘heroes’.
